California State Senator Richard Alarcon honors Sifu Kong at the Martial Arts History Museum awards ceremony on October 14, 2006.
As one of the first American instructors to teach Kung Fu openly, Buck Sam Kong was inducted into the Martial Arts 2006 Hall of Fame. This recognition is based on history-making achievements that have made an impacting contribution to the martial arts community.
97-year-old Lam Cho taught Buck Sam Kong the art of Hung Gar as a youth.

Sifu Andrew Kong, eighth degree master level, was trained in Hung Gar and Choy Lei Fut by this father, Buck Sam Kong. Buck was inducted in the Black Belt Hall of Fame in 1974, and is the founder of the Siu Lum Pai Kung Fu Association.
Andrew started martial arts training with father at the age of 5. By the age of 14, Andrew started teaching classes for his father, and by age 18 he was running his own school in Orange County, California. Andrew trained many of the United States Marines from the nearby El Torro base.
Between the ages of 19 and 23, Andrew Competed in many tournaments throughout the nation. "Kung Fu has taught me patience. Through my fathers instruction and guidance, I have learned the importance of pride, honor and respect." "The art of Kong Fu has taught me ways of creating focus in my life." Andrew's goal is to continue his father's legacy and bring the culture and traditional ways of Kung Fu to Rockford, Illinois.
